Ballet Shoe Styles

Not much is ever said about men's ballet shoes. Are there a lot of men that need ballet sure. Bet your bottom dollar that there are. Male ballet dancers tend to wear canvas or leather slippers that come in neutral tones like white, black, and nude.

Female ballet dancers also have ballet shoes that come in canvas or leather typically. Pink are far and away the most popular color for woman's ballet shoes but black and white are popular as well.

As you learn more and more dances and progress in your ballet training you're likely going to need point ballet shoes as well. You'll start off with a couple options like standard shank or platform. More ballet shoe options will become available to you as you progress.

Your selection of ballet shoes is a very personal choice. While many of the shoes will look alike and be very similar in coloring they are far from the same. There are lots of ballet shoes to choose from to help you maximize your potential.

Certain ballet dance styles require absolutely no ballet shoes at all. Take lyrical for example. You'll often go barefoot or maybe wear a pair of sandals if you are dancing lyrical.

Then you have specialized ballet dancers. Tap! Not really ballet at all. You still need dance shoes however whether they are the lace up style for men or a pair of heels for the women.

Beyond ballet shoes once more are ballroom dance shoes. Again typical ballet shoes just wont cut the mustard. Men need lace up shoes or boots and woman will wear heels.

One more? OK. How about jazz? Again, different from ballet shoes. In jazz dance men and woman will wear shoes that are actually very similar to ballroom dance shoes. We'll throw a twist in there though. Pretty much anything goes in jazz. Even sneakers. It really depends on the choreography as to what shoes you'll need for jazz.
