As a ballroom dancer you know that your feet and knees are your most important asset. The best way to protect your most important asset is with the proper bloch ballroom dance shoes.
Lots of ballroom dancing techniques require you to slide your feet across the floor. Don't even think about trying to slide your feet across the floor in a sneaker. You're going to need bloch ballroom dance shoes.
A good pair of bloch dance shoes will have suede or leather soles. A low friction and supple surface for your feet to glide across the floor.
Editors Tip: Under no circumstance do you wear your dance shoes outside of the studio. You'll scuff the soles and ruin them.Ideally you should have shoes with suede or leather soles.
Remeber that you're going to be moving backwards in your bloch ballroom dance shoes. You'll be dancing backwards a lot and you can't dance backwards in any sort of slip on shoe. The shoes will slide right off.
That means a sandal with a strap or a court shoe that fits properly. Choose a dance shoe will good support in the back and a heel that is about two inches tall.
Why a heel?
Remember that in ballroom dancing your weight needs to be off of the heels of your feet and transferred towards the front or balls of your feet. The simplest way to make sure that your weight is on the balls of your feet is to wear bloch ballrom dance shoes with a two to two and a half inch heel.
